AUO Corporation ("AUO" or the "Company") (TAIEX: 2409; NYSE: AUO) today (Sept. 2) announced that it is to be honored with the 2008 Green Package Design Award by the Environmental Protection Administration with its industrial packaging design – “Paper Cushion Structure for LCD TV panel package.” Mr. Jamie Huang, Senior Manager of AUO Technology Center OM Component Engineering Department, received the award on behalf of AUO. AUO is the only enterprise that is a non-professional packaging company to receive this award. AUO has continuously worked to design for saving resource, recycling, and lowering pollution and logistics costs, and has achieved much in terms of “Green Logistics”. AUO will continue applying “Green Solutions” initiatives in all aspects of its innovative technologies.

The main features of this new packaging design include reducing cushion space within panels to increase loading panels per carton, reducing packaging material usage, and upgrading transportation efficiency. In addition, the strengthened structure design can bear high pressure and stack up to 1.5 floors high, helping customers save on warehouse storage space. The packaging material is made from corrugated paper. Without any glue, it is easy to take apart and at the same time resists damage from falls or drops from all directions. The materials are also completely recyclable. This new design fits in the standard of green packaging－saving resources, recycling and lowering pollution and logistics cost. The design is patented in Taiwan, China and the U.S.

The Green Logistics of “AUO Green Solutions” initiative target to optimize transportation efficiency by simplifying packaging material and reducing space. This time AUO is the only awarded enterprise that is non-professional packaging company in industrial packaging category, accrediting AUO for its long dedication to Green Solutions. It proves that the designated team on packaging design demonstrates AUO’s commitment to our green environment.
